According to a press release from Ducks Unlimited (DU), the nation's premiere wetlands and waterfowl conservation group reported record levels of both members and funds raised during the past fiscal year.
During the DU annual convention in San Antonio, Texas, DU President Dr. L. J. Mayeaux of Larksville, Louis., announced that DU volunteers and staff had raised more than $175 million for habitat conservation work in Fiscal Year 2001.
Dr. Mayeaux also announced that the group now counts more than 757,000 people as members of DU.
Both are all-time highs in the organization's 64-year history.
Duck's Unlimited biologists and engineers used the funds raised during Fiscal Year 2001 to protect, restore and enhance over 331,000 acres of wildlife habitat within the United States.
DU also reached another important milestone last fiscal year, spending a full 87 percent of its revenue directly on habitat conservation projects and programs.
