With a glove on one hand and a sock on the other, a bandit in a black cowboy hat robbed a Carson City bar early Tuesday morning of an undisclosed amount of cash.

A man walked into Clancy's bar at 316 E. Winnie Lane at 3:10 a.m. and ordered a glass of water, according to Chief Deputy Scott Burau of the Carson City Sheriff's Department. Burau said the man then went to the men's room and when he returned he had the sock and glove combination and a demand.

"He says, 'Open up your cash register,' and indicated he had a weapon," Burau said. However, no weapon was seen.

The bartender reported the man scooped the cash off the bar and then ran out through a rear door of the business.

"On the way out, he took the cordless phone," Burau said.

The robber is described as a white male, 25 to 30 years old, wearing a black cowboy hat with a black and brown leather tassel hanging from the back, a blue and white plaid shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. The lone witness said he also had a light beard and moustache.
