Elberon, N.J., Sept. 21. The postmortem examination of the body of President Garfield revealed the cause of death was secondary hemorrhage from one of the mesentric arteries joining the track of the ball (bullet), the blood rupturing the peritoneum, and nearly a pint escaping. The bullet had passed through the spinal column. (An attack by an assassin.)

Married Ñ In Carson Sept. 28, 1901 at the home of Dr. and Mrs. S.L. Lee, Mr. Hezekiah Brown of Reno and Miss Julia Stewart of Carson. The Lyon County Times says 16 tons of mill machinery arrived for the Lizard Mine below Sutro. Ore from the mine is gold and free milling.

Potato Growers of Carson Valley have called attention to a quarantine established by the state of California, which calls for a $7 a carload inspection when but one carload is shipped each day.

Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur D. Young and son Larry spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Whittemore from Chester, Calif., where he is coach. Young was former athletic coach at Carson High School.
