Maybe the dinosaurs would have survived if they'd jogged more.
Children's Museum of Northern Nevada backers hope to bring dinosaurs to Carson City using money raised in the annual Jester Jog.
Children's Museum board member Erin Lehman said she plans to raise enough money from Saturday's event to bring a traveling exhibit, Dinosaur Discovery, to Carson.
"We need to get them the money for the deposit by June," she said.
A runner, Lehman said she plans on doing the two-miler pushing her 2-year-old daughter.
With three children, all 5 and younger, Lehman has been a fixture at the Children's Museum.
"It's an awesome facility with some very nice exhibits," she said. "I go there and I use it, but there are some things that can improve."
Lehman joined the board of directors because she wanted to help make the museum better.
"We need to get some new exhibits," she said. "I want sponsors and the community to know we are working in a positive way."
The Jester Jog is open to everyone, runner or not.
"We will have a fun run where the parking lot is coned off," she said. "There will be special awards for all the children who participate."
Besides being a full-time mom, Lehman is also a part-time instructor at Nevada Fitness.
"Members of the community are the only ones who can help improve this museum," she said.
The Jester Jog is sponsored by the Road Runners Club of America and the Sagebrush Stompers. There will be 10-kilometer and 2-mile runs; a 2-mile walk; and a children's run.
Entry fee for the race is $25 for adults, $10 for children.
