A funeral Mass for Andrew O. Padilla, 78, a Carson City resident for the past 13 years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.
A viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday with a Rosary at 7 p.m. at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.
Mr. Padilla died April 1, 2002, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born May 22, 1923, in El Paso, Texas, to Andres M. and Emelia Orona Padilla.
Before moving the Carson City, he lived in Downeyville, Calif.
Mr. Padilla was a member of the American Legion and Alliance Club in Downeyville and was a volunteer fireman for the Downeyville Fire Department. He was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. He loved fishing, dancing, bowling, singing and playing the harmonica.
He served in the U.S. Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Normandy during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife Hilaria of Carson City; daughters and sons-in-law Esther and Ron Monreal of Fresno, Calif., Angelina and James Lindgren of Pinole, Calif., Irene and Danny Avalos of Las Vegas and Cruz and Jerry Jackson of Filomath, Ore.; brothers Robert, Arthur and Louis and his wife Rosa, all of Bakersfield, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law Mary and Tommy Hervera and Adrienne and Alex Alexandre, all of Milpitas, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law Jesse and Faviola Padilla of Carson City; 20 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Northern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Fernley.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
