A funeral for Walter G. Lund Jr., 68, a former longtime Gardnerville resident, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville with Pastor Pete Nelson officiating.
Mr. Lund died April 9, 2002, in a Medford, Ore. hospital. He was born Sept. 28, 1933, in Hayward, Calif., to Walter and Mavis Lund.
He graduated from Hayward High School in 1951.
Mr. Lund moved to Pleasanton, Calif., where he worked as a general building contractor for 20 years. In 1971, he moved to Gardnerville and for the past 10 years, he divided his time between his cattle ranch in Grants Pass, Ore. and his other home in Lockeford, Calif. He was an active member of the Gardnerville Lions Club, the Contractors' Association, the Cattlemen's Association and was a former 4-H leader.
Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Matt and Paula of Lockeford; daughters and sons-in-law Sheri and Tom Clore of Minden and Debbie and John Harris of Gardnerville; grandchildren Stephanie Hettrick, Kolt Clore, and Brandan and John Harris Jr. and great-granddaughter Maddison Hettrick.
Burial will be at the Mottsville Cemetery.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
