Nearly a half-dozen store fronts along Carson Street were shot out Saturday morning.

Two teenagers with a pellet gun are the prime suspects according to Carson City Sheriff's deputies investigating the vandalism.

Melissa Zehring of Comma Coffee said she was inside the business when she heard the crash.

"I was making some coffee when I heard this large crash behind me and the window was shattered," she said. "You could see a little hole where it looks like somebody hit it with a pellet gun or a sling shot."

Zehring said she wasn't hurt when the incident happened at about 8:45 a.m.

"I was just really startled, but by the time I turned around they were gone. I didn't see who did it."

Customers in the Friends In Service Helping store braved a cold blast of air to shop on Saturday while operators waited for glass to replace their northernmost window.

Juan Delgado, manager of the store, said the thrift store's window was shot out shortly before the store opened.

"People are putting on their jackets in here," he said.

Zehring said she believes the shooters were headed south.

The owners of Hannifan's Antiques are going to have to board up their window until they can find a glass pane large enough to replace the window that was shot out.

"One of our storefront windows was knocked completely out," said store manager Vera Treat.

The antique store is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for the shooting.

Witnesses got a description of the vehicle and deputies are seeking the two individuals responsible.
