A 41-year-old Reno man was killed Sunday night when he was struck by a car while running across Interstate 80 in Reno.
According to police reports, Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the crash at 6:30 p.m. Police determined that the man had been running across the interstate from north to south when he was hit by a Ford Taurus driven by 20-year-old Heidi Tocatlian, also from Reno. Tocatlian was traveling eastbound when the man ran in front of her car and was struck. He was taken to Washoe Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m.
Police reports stated that the pedestrian emitted an odor of alcohol. Toxicology test results would be pending the result of an autopsy, said Trooper Pat McGill, a public information officer for Nevada Highway Patrol.
Tocatlian, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash. She was found not to be at fault in the accident, McGill said.
