The Carson girls basketball team couldn't hold a 10-point lead early in the fourth quarter and ended up losing 60-55 on Tuesday at Fallon.
The game featured two teams that figure to make significant runs in the Northern 4A playoffs this season.
"There were a lot of athletes on the floor," said Carson coach Paul Croghan about both teams. "They're a good, talented club."
"I think they've got to be as good as anybody in the other division," Croghan also said about Fallon in the High Desert League. "I think we'll see them again. It was a shame that somebody had to lose and it really was a shame it was us."
Carson led 50-40 early in the fourth quarter, but Fallon outscored the Senators 19-5 to end the game.
"We got in a rush and turned it over unnecessarily and it came back to bite us in the but," Croghan said. "Hopefully we'll learn from it."
The Senators had fought back from a 16-9 deficit after one quarter to take a 44-40 lead after three periods.
Both teams shot outstanding from the foul line as Fallon was 17-of-20 and Carson was 14-of-18. Ciarra Christian had an outstanding game for the Senators as she scored 24 points, hitting 9-of-10 free throws. Katie Kotter scored 10 points and Nicole Scott and Andrea Hoff each added six points for the Senators (2-2).
