A funeral for Vincent "Geno" Omodio, 83, a Carson City resident for the past 33 years, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Walton's with a Rosary at 6 p.m.
Mr. Omodio died Dec. 21, 2002, at Washoe Medical Center. He was born May 10, 1919, in Johnstown, Pa., to Peter and Carmella Gurino Omodio.
He married Ina Helbakka in 1943.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Detroit for 28 years.
Mr. Omodio spent his career primarily in sales. He was an honorary member of the Loyal Order of the Moose for 50 years, a member of the AmVets for 47 years and a member of American Legion Post 1 in Reno. He enjoyed golf, bowling and he was an avid pool player. He was a Catholic.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
Among his survivors are his wife of 59 years Ina of Carson City; son Gary E. of Detroit; daughters Dianna Fusano and Sheila R. Omodio, both of Carson City; sister Mary Antinora and brother Peter, both of Johnstown and grandchildren Michelle Sass-Herzog of Munich, Germany, Brian Sass of San Diego and Vincent, Christopher and Daniel Omodio of Detroit.
Burial will be at Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
