Memorial services for Ruth Katsaris-Irwin an 11-year resident of Gardnerville will be at noon, Jan. 7, 2003 at Heritage Memorial Services in Huntington Beach, Calif.
Mrs. Katsaris-Irwin died Dec. 24, 2002 at home. She was born June 13, 1915 in Zanesville, Ohio, to Charles and Daisy Boswell Pitts. She was 87.
Mrs. Katsaris-Irwin and her husband Nick Katsaris were owners of Sam's Seafood Restaurant in Surfside, Calif., for 35 years.
She graduated from high school in Canton, Ohio and was married to Nick Katsaris for 45 years. He died May 20, 1980.
She was married to John Irwin for four years. He died Nov. 1, 2001.
In addition to Sam's, she also owned the Doll House, Salamar and the Village Inn.
Mrs. Katsaris-Irwin was a member of the Greek Orthodox faith.
She was preceded in death by two husbands and a son Richard Katsaris who died in November 1980.
Among her survivors are her daughter, Sharyon Katsaris of Gardnerville; sons Gary Katsaris of Corona Del Mar, Calif., and Robert Katsaris of Arizona; granddaughter Heather Kluever and her husband, Todd, and grandson Nick Katsaris and his wife, Fran, all of Gardnerville; 15 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be beside her husband Nick Katsaris at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach following the memorial service.
