Commission meeting to be in Las Vegas

The Nevada State Board of Wildlife Commissioners will meet on Friday and Saturday in Las Vegas.

That two-day meeting will be at the conference room of the Environmental Protection Agency at 944 E. Harmon Ave.

-- The commission's agenda on Friday, which begins at 10 a.m., includes:

Reports on wilderness designations for the Mojave and Black Rock areas.

Pronghorn antelope species management planning.

Rocky Mountain elk plans for Central Nevada and Western Elko County.

Sage grouse conservation plans.

-- The Saturday agenda, which begins at 8:30 a.m., includes:

Petitions from the public on special hunts for disabled persons and non-magnifying scopes for muzzleloaders.

A proposal for a spike bull Rocky Mountain elk hunt will also be heard.

Also being heard is a proposal to raise the fee for mule deer hunting tags from $20 to $25.

Commissioners will also be asked to consider some adjustments to the already established 2002 hunting seasons and application rules for pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, Rocky Mountain elk, Rocky Mountain goat and mule deer. They will also consider amending tag application deadlines, allow for Internet applications for big game hunts and establish quotas for the non-resident guided mule deer hunts.
