FBI involved in hunt for alleged killer

With a killer still on the loose, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has asked the FBI for help in its search for a Carson City man -- the prime suspect in the Sunday morning murder of a Johnson Lane-area man and the brutal shooting of his wife.

With the federal help, Douglas investigators working day and night, and tips from the community, Sheriff Ron Pierini is confident Christopher Fiegehen, 22, will be apprehended.

"We have had tons of input from the community and are still asking for assistance from anyone with any information," said Pierini who added investigators have followed up on countless leads and have compiled significant information from community tips.

Fiegehen is suspected of murdering Alan Chorkey, 50, and shooting his wife, Lorelle Chorkey, 54, at their Johnson Lane-area home. He was allegedly seen near the Chorkey's home about 5 a.m. around the time of a 911 call from the residence and the discovery of the carnage inside.

According to Pierini, Lorelle Chorkey is alive and in critical condition recovering from near-fatal wounds in an undisclosed hospital.

Autopsy results were not released Tuesday.

"There was some initial dialogue that she had just a small chance of being able to survive, but here we are three days later," Pierini said.

Motive for the attack is unknown, he said.

Fiegehen is alleged to be the longtime boyfriend of Lorelle Chorkey's 18-year-old daughter, Alane Dockstader. According to court documents, he was served with a protective order filed by Dockstader on Jan. 24 in which she alleged Fiegehen bruised her arm and pulled her hair.

Pierini said with an investigation still under way and the suspected killer on the loose, he is cautious about what information is released.

The suspect's 1994 blue Ford pickup was located in Truckee about 6 p.m. Monday near a train station, Pierini said. He said investigators are looking into an auto theft out of Auburn but don't know if it's related.

"What can make anyone do something like this?" he asked. "At what extreme do you go with your anger?"

Fiegehen, considered armed and dangerous, is described as a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes, a recently shaved head with possible brown roots and pierced ears.
