Information guarded on suspected killer

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Thursday it had no new information to release on the search for a Carson City man suspected of murdering his estranged girlfriend's father and attempting to kill her mother.

"We do not have any additional information to give to anyone at this particular time. Should we have some additional information we will be doing it through a press release as we have done in the past," said Lt. Kathy Taddich.

Christopher Fiegehen, 22, is wanted in connection with the early Sunday morning murder of Al Chorkey, of Douglas County.

Deputies found Chorkey dead and his wife Lorelle suffering from apparent gunshot wounds after receiving a 911 call from inside the home on Becky Avenue in Johnson Lane.

News reports indicate Chorkey may have died from stab instead of gunshot wounds as was stated in the criminal complaint filed on the day of the murder.

The no-bail warrant issued for Fiegehen's arrest also states that Lorelle Chorkey identified "Chris" as the shooter. She is recovering from her near-fatal injuries at an undisclosed hospital.

Neighbors placed Fiegehen's 1994 Ford pickup at the scene early Sunday because it is "distinctive sounding" and has a modified exhaust system, according to court documents.

His truck was found abandoned near a train station in Truckee on Tuesday. Authorities were looking into the theft of a vehicle out of Auburn, Calif., in connection with the case.

Fiegehen is the adopted son of Allan Fiegehen of Carson City, part owner of the Ormsby House and Cubix Corp.

Lorelle Chorkey's 19-year-old daughter was granted a restraining order against Fiegehen on Jan. 22. The couple had dated since May 1999 and broke up last month because of Fiegehen's "controlling attitude and physical violence," according to court papers.

Fiegehen, a bartender at the Silver Dollar Casino, was served with the order Jan. 24 at his Carson City home.

On Sunday, the Carson City Sheriff's Department assisted Douglas County in a search of Fiegehen's Ramsey Circle address, according to Chief Deputy Scott Burau of Carson City.

He was unsure what evidence was collected.

Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini said the FBI has joined the hunt for Fiegehen, who is considered armed and dangerous.

He said the investigation has moved outside of Nevada.

Fiegehen is described as a white male about 6-feet tall and weighing about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes, a recently shaved head with possible brown roots and pierced ears.
