It's not surprising that the Carson Country boys and girls basketball teams were well-represented on the all-Northern 4A teams.

For the boys, Carson High's Vince Inglima and Ryan Buttner and Galena's Joe Heaton were named to the all-region first team. Ingliman and Buttner helped lead Carson to a Sierra League title with an 11-1 mark.

Named to the first team for the girls were Galena's Joanna Hixon and Douglas High's Andrea Honer. Emily Haas of Douglas and Carson's Erin Stieber were named to the second team. Carson and Douglas both advanced to the NIAA/U.S. Bank 4A State Championships.

For the boys, Erik Olson of Douglas was named to the second team. Carson's Bruce Barnes was the co-coach of the year with Elko's Chris Klekas.

In a strange twist, Inglima was named as the Sierra League's player of the year, but Reno's David Padgett was named as the region's player of the year. Also named to the Sierra League first team were Buttner and Olson.

Named to the second team were Carson's Adam McKenzie and Will Thomas of Douglas. Honorable mention choices were Carson's Ryan Henry and Steve Hartman and Travis Baker of Douglas. Barnes was the coach of the year.

For the girls, Honer was the Sierra League's tri-player of the year with Wooster's Brianne McGowan and Reno's Jessica Stewart. Haas and Stieber were also named to the first team.

Amber Gwinn of Douglas and Carson's Talia Joyce made the second team. Erin Brinkmeyer and Julie Gingrich of Douglas and Carson's Katie Kotter were honorable mention choices. Werner Christen of Douglas was the tri-coach of the year with Reno's Craig Campbell and South Tahoe's Tim Jaureguito.

In the High Desert League for Galena, Hixon made the first team and Seslee Howell made the second team.
