MINDEN Ten days into the search for a suspect in a Carson Valley slaying, authorities don't know if he is still in the area.
Suspect Christopher Fiegehen, 22, "could be in so many locations," Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini said Tuesday. "For his safety and for the best interest of his community, we want to get this thing resolved."
An arrest warrant has been issued for Fiegehen in the Feb. 10 attack on Johnson Lane residents Alan and Lorelle Chorkey. Alan Chorkey was stabbed to death. His wife was shot and remains in critical condition.
Douglas County sheriff's detectives continue to collect tips from the public.
"We're following up every lead we may have to locate him," Pierini said. The public has been real good. Obviously, a lot of information comes to an impasse. But the public is really going to be the key to finding Fiegehen.
Considering the circumstances, Lorelle Chorkey is "doing amazingly well," he said. SheOs the mother of Fiegehen's former girlfriend.
A coroner's report on Alan Chorkey could take another two weeks, Pierini said.
Pierini said area law enforcement agencies in Reno, Carson City and Truckee, Calif., are working with Douglas County to find Fiegehen.
Fiegehen is described as a white male, about 6-feet tall, weighing about 180 pounds. He has blue eyes, a recently shaved head with possible brown roots and pierced ears. Fiegehen is considered armed and dangerous.
