Obituary -- Virgie 'Dot' Hammack

A funeral for Virgie "Dot" Hammack, 81, a Carson City resident for the past 43 years, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Hammack died Feb. 24, 2002, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born April 9, 1920, in Doxie, Okla., to William and Virgie Roland Walkup.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Big Pine, Calif.

Mrs. Hammack was a homemaker. She was a life member of the Sagebrush Model A Ford Club in Carson City and a member of the Carson City Civil Air Patrol. She enjoyed traveling and exploring Nevada history.

She was preceded in death by her husband L.B. in 1980.

Among her survivors are her son Ben of Carson City; sister Wilma Maddox of Sayre, Okla.; grandsons Heidi Sakalarios of Carson City and Brent Hammack of Smith Valley and six great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Nevada State Firefighters Association Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 907, Lovelock, NV 89419 in her name.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
