Obituary -- Robert A. Lewis

Robert Albert Lewis, 84, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died Jan. 12, 2002, in Carson City. He was born Aug. 9, 1917, in Columbia, S.C., to Reddin A. and Mary Pritchard Lewis.

He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1942 with a degree in chemical engineering.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Stockton, Calif.

Mr. Lewis was a chemical engineer for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. until his retirement. He was an avid astronomer. He enjoyed camping and hiking and taking long walks every afternoon.

He was preceded in death by a son Robert Jr. in 1976.

Among his survivors are his wife Beulah "Bea" of Carson City; son Kirk of Davis, Calif.; stepson Kenneth Johnson of Carson City; daughter Mary Helen Green of Vallicito, Calif.; stepdaughters Pauletta McVinni of Lodi, Calif., Victoria Epling of Carson City and Sandra Cole of Branson, Mo. and sister Mary Lewis of Raleigh, S.C.

No service is scheduled.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
