Auditions for the Carson City Senior Citizens Center's annual fund-raiser "Senior Follies" will be from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 20 at the senior center, 911 Beverly Drive.
The title of this year's show is "America the Beautiful: A Celebration of America and Her People," and will depict the diversity, courage and joy of the American experience throughout history.
Cast and crew are needed for the production, cast members must be age 50 or older. The show will consist of singing, dancing, comedic skits, variety acts and portrayals of famous American characters.
Rehearsals will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday evenings beginning March 6. Three performances will be held at the Carson City Community Center; May 31-June 2. The Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7 p.m., Sunday's show is a 2 p.m. matinee. An additional matinee will be June 9 at Piper's Opera House in Virginia City.
During the two weeks prior to the show, there will be many additional rehearsals. Performers will not need to be at every rehearsal, but will need to be at every rehearsal for which they are scheduled.
The show is written and directed by Brian Frishman of Reno, who brings 15 years of directing experience to the Senior Follies. Prior to being a director, he was a stage, film and television actor having appeared in more than 60 plays, films and TV shows.
Frishman has worked for directors Steven Spielberg, Marti Ritt, Charles Marowitz and current Broadway director, John Rando. He is former owner and artistic director of The Actors Group Playhouse in Santa Rosa, Calif.
