SOUTH LAKE TAHOE 2, CARSON VALLEY 0

Chase Harpole pitched two-hit ball to lead South Lake Tahoe to its opening round win against Carson Valley.

South Lake Tahoe broke a scoreless tie with one run in the fourth inning and then added another run in the fifth.

Michael Whalin only allowed four hits in a complete game performance for Carson Valley. He struck out nine and walked three.

Beau Batista and Scott Lococo singled to account for the two Carson Valley hits.

RENO NATIONAL 9, RENO AMERICAN WEST 1

Patrick Gallagher pitched a five-hitter and struck out 14 over six innings as Reno National cruised to victory in its opener.

Gallagher also doubled for Reno National, which scored four runs in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie.

Nick Finney pitched all the way, struck out 13 and only walked two, for Reno American West.

RENO CONTINENTAL 13, NORTH TAHOE 1

Kevin Berry's two-run double was the big hit as Reno Continental scored nine runs in the top of the fourth inning to take charge against North Tahoe in a game called after five innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.

North Tahoe had just scored in the bottom of the third to tie the score at 1-1.

Spencer Sconza pitched five innings, struck out nine and walked two for Reno Continental.

Zack Tomlinson hit a double and single and drove in North Tahoe's only run.
