An unlicensed trailer caught fire Monday afternoon in a desert area at the intersection of Horatio Road and Clear Creek Avenue.

There were no people or structures near the fire, and firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within minutes.

Carson City Fire Department Capt. Mark Bowers said the trailer appeared to be abandoned because the owners could not be found.

The trailer was destroyed, but the Jeep Cherokee parked next to it was saved from the flames. The car was also unlicensed.

Firefighters do not know what caused the fire.

Two engines and a rescue unit arrived on the scene when the fire was reported, just in case there were people in danger, Bowers said. Nine firefighters put out the fire.

The year and make of the trailer was not known because it was destroyed, but Bowers said the trailer looked decades old.
