Obituary Thomas A. Good, M.D.

A service for Thomas A. Good, M.D., 77, a Dayton resident, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Dr. Good died June 24, 2002, at his home. He was born Feb. 8, 1925, in Atwater, Minn., to Ethel Whitcomb and Roy Herbert Good.

He graduated from Minneapolis, Minn., public schools and received a B.A., B.S., M.B. and doctorate of medicine in 1952.

Dr. Good taught and conducted research at the University of Utah Medical School, University of Maryland Medical School and the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then came to Northern Nevada to establish a practice in pediatrics with multiple sub specialties in infectious disease, endocrinology and metabolism, genetics, nephrology, juvenile rheumatology and developmental disorders. He retired in 1997 after 45 years of medical service.

He used his talents and compassion to care for the children of Carson City and the surrounding communities. He dedicated a majority of his time to helping children with special needs, both in his office and as the medical director for the Eagle Valley Children's Home for 20 years.

Along with medicine, horses and rowing were his passions. He bred, trained and rode mustangs into his early '70s and was an accomplished rower.

He was preceded in death by brother Charles H. Good, Ph.D.

Among his survivors are his wife Bobbi Good; brothers Roy (Mick) H. Good, M.D. of Fairbault, Minn. and Robert A., M.D., Ph.D. of St. Petersburg, Fla.; children and spouses Stephanie and Michael Siitari of Long Lake, Minn., Samuel and Kiersten Good of Robinsdale, Minn., Gwen and Steve Oberlin of Chippewa Falls, Wis., Shelley Good of Minneapolis, Tara and Dean Martinelli of Forestville, Calif.; Sonya Good of Dayton; Zachry Good of Reno and grandchildren Kiira Siitari, Tori Siitari, Justin Good, Amber Good, Nicholas Good, Asha Good and Dante Martinelli.
