The Carson High softball team had an encouraging sign for the upcoming season with a 10-4 win over Fallon in a scrimmage on Saturday.
Three freshman pitchers, Brittany Puzey, Mandy Carvin and Kayla Dunn all looked impressive for the Senators as each went three innings in the nine inning scrimmage. Puzey allowed one run while striking out two, Carvin struck out two and Dunn was particularly impressive, striking out six in three scoreless innings.
"That's really encouraging to have three freshman pitchers throw the ball so well," Carson coach John Sullivan said.
Carson has a young team with six freshmen and only one senior in Kaylee Risi, who went 2-for-3. The big hits for Carson came when Beth Henry belted a three run triple in the seventh inning and Lindsay Perondi had a two run double in the fourth.
Dunn was 3-for-3, Natalie Mandoki went 2-for-3, Lindsay Farnworth went 2-for-4, Perondi and Carvin were each 1-for-1 and Liz Rankl, Ariadne Gonzalez and Katie Vidovich all added hits for Carson, which will scrimmage on 3 p.m. Tuesday at Douglas.
