In observance of National Nutrition Month, Carson-Tahoe Hospital's nutrition services department will be sponsoring a food drive beginning Tuesday through March 31. All food donations will be presented to Friends In Service Helping.
"We tend to think that the holiday season is the only time of year to donate. We as nutritionists know that staying healthy requires good nutrition all year long and we want to help increase the food supply for local needy families," said Michele Cowee, Carson-Tahoe Hospital clinical dietitian. "We hope the public will join us in this effort."
Foods must be non-perishable. Donation barrels will be located in two locations at the hospital, in the front lobby and in front of the cafeteria. There will also be a barrel located at Minden Medical Center in the urgent care for Douglas County residents. Donations will be accepted 8 a.m.-8 p.m. seven days a week through March 31.
