The Carson High boys swim team rolled to victory while the Senator girls lost a heartbreaker in a dual meet on Saturday against Reed.
Carson's boys won 140-64 while the CHS girls lost 148-145. The Carson girls were swimming with Lauren Costella, who is training for next week's United States Championships.
The meet came down to the 400-yard freestyle relay in which Reed was able to place first in the event. Carson's Kate Hardt, Karen Burke, Megan Keller and Tara Theilemann won the 200 medley relay in one minute, 55.84 seconds.
Hardt also won the 200 individual medley (2:15.73) and the 100 breaststroke (1:09.99) and swam on Carson's winning 200 free relay (1:45.57), giving her four wins. Keller, Theilemann and Burke also swam on the 200 free relay.
Other wins for Carson were: Keller, 50 free, 27.06; Theilemann, 100 butterfly, 1:02.77 and 500 free, 5:33.90; Burke, 100 free, 58.30.
In addition, Keller placed second in the 100 fly (1.05.64), Janine Stone placed second (2:23.49) and Alison Cardinal took third (2:25.36) in the 200 free and Tamara Hall placed second in diving.
For the boys, Adrian Zeh won the 200 free (2:11.87), Justin Barber won the 100 fly (55.76) and the 100 breaststroke (1:03.67), Kyle McAfee won the 100 free (59.53) and Jeff Stroup won the 500 free (5:33.47).
Carson also went one-two-three in the 100 backstroke with Ben McCarty (1:09.72), Jonathan Stone (1:13.40) and Andrew Cardinal (1:34.20).
Barber won four events as he swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relays. Barber, McCarty, McAfee and Jake Oxoby won the 200 medley relay (1:54.73) and Barber, Stroup, McCarty and McAfee won the 400 free relay (3:53.70).
