Matt Sumsion, Matt Bowman and Ivan Torres combined to drive in seven runs as Dayton High School scored a 13-1 Northern 3A victory against Rite of Passage Tuesday afternoon in Yerington.
The Dust Devils scored six runs in the fourth inning and five more runs in the fifth to break away in a game that was vital to their playoff hopes.
Casey Skog hit 4-for-4 to lead Dayton's 11-hit attack. Bowman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, Sumsion 1-for-4 with three RBIs and Torres 1-for-4 with two RBIs.
Adam Diament pitched five-hit ball and struck out four to pick up the victory for the Dust Devils, who play a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Yerington on Friday.
