Winnifred Frances "Lonni" Berry, 95, a Carson City resident for the past 11 years, died May 27, 2002, at Whispering Heights in Carson City.
She was born March 5, 1907, in Spokane, Wash., to Charles and Mayme York Wiggins. During her childhood she lived in Canada in a sod house on the family farm and rode her horse to school.
She lived in a Fairbanks, Alaska, log cabin with her first husband, Howard P. Brown. She traveled from Seattle to Valdez on a boat and then by stage to Fairbanks with her first son.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Bellevue, Wash., and Santa Cruz, Calif.
Mrs. Berry was a homemaker. She was baptized a Latter-day Saint.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack F. Berry April 10, 1994, in Carson City and son Howard Eugene Brown.
Among her survivors are her son Petrie F. Brown of Carson City; sister Uteva Meyer of Kirkland, Wash.; sister Julie Smith of Austin, Texas; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
According to her wishes, there will be no service.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate her life.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary's Hospice of Northern Nevada.
