Who: Advocates to End Domestic Violence, Noon Rotary, Girl Scout Troop No. 401 and news station KTVN

What: Food drive to help benefit the local women's and children's shelter.

Where: Governor's Mansion

When: Friday, Dec. 13

Time: 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

Help needed: Assorted food to fill the on-site food pantry.

Who: Capital City Humane Society

What: Raising money to build animal shelter.

Where: B'sghetti's

When: Monday, Dec. 2

Time: 5:30 p.m. until the fun stops

Help needed: People who would enjoy a fabulous sit-down meal and lovely atmosphere. Call early to reserve, seating available for 80

Cost: $12 and $10 for seniors and children under 12

Who: Carson-Tahoe Hospital Auxiliary

What: Supports the hospital through ongoing fund-raising.

Where: Carson Nugget, reservations are required

When: Tuesday, Dec. 10

Help needed: Women and men of all ages within Carson City and the Douglas-Lyon counties region to help with activities supporting the hospital. If you would like to become a member, applications are at Carson-Tahoe Hospital in the gift shop.

Who: Kiwanis of Carson City

What: Thanksgiving dinners for the needy.

Where: Albertson's

When: Wednesday, Nov. 27

Help needed: Call to sponsor a Thanksgiving meal for a needy family. Kiwanis members deliver the meals to the family's home.

Next Monday: Boys & Girls Club of Western Nevada looking for after-school tutors for Empire Elementary and how Harley Davidson Financial Services roars through a special anniversary.
