120 YEARS AGO

Graveyard vote. In the recent California elections, all the old graveyards were torn up in the terrible political strife, and the Lone Mountain Cemetery was devastated by the San Francisco municipal election to an extent heretofore unknown. Here in Carson, Sam Wright kept a guard over his graveyard all day to see that none of the inmates were run in.

100 YEARS AGO

Headline. Plenty of the beautiful, heaviest snow in years in the mountains. Five feet on the level at Anderson's camp. At Marlette Lake 30 inches of snow were reported. Henry Rice, who drives the Glenbrook stage, had to work his way through two feet of the beautiful.

70 YEARS AGO

The new railroad track on the Virginia and Truckee Lakeview line was used for the first time today (Nov. 2) putting the old tunnel in discard. It was started in 1869, put in operation in 1872, and was 360 feet long, cut into sandstone.

50 YEARS

Charles J. McQuigan fund. A memorial for the care of the cemetery reached $682, it was announced by Frank B. Gregory, president of the Rotary Club, trustee of the fund. (McQuigan was our long-time mortician and civil leader who used his hearse as an ambulance.

20 YEARS AGO

Nevada Office of Price Stabilization announced today that community pricing had gone into effect throughout Western Nevada and northeastern California for 200 grocery stores.

10 YEARS AGO

Final count of overseas ballots on Question 9 finished in a tie - 8,504 to 8,504. It is likely the advisory question will go to the Board of Supervisors.
