Ten-year Carson City resident William R. Smith died Nov. 22, 2002, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Jan. 12, 1932 in San Francisco to William F. Smith. He was 70.
Mr. Smith was a barber and attended high school in San Jose, Calif. He continued his education at barber college and with arts classes at Austin Arts.
Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
He married Gloria J. Willis June 2, 1990 in Lake Tahoe. He enjoyed painting landscapes, cooking and fishing.
Prior to living in Carson City he lived in Sacramento for 15 years.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Among his survivors are: his wife, Gloria, of Carson City; his son Bobby Smith of Belen, N.M.; daughters and sons-in-law Tammy and Nick Brown and Terry and mark Richards all of Carson City; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Walton's Sierra Crematory is in charge of cremation.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
