120 YEARS AGO

Chartz pardon. Pardon for murder, General Clark's sympathies, presents case before Board of Pardons without any fee. Last summer, a woman named Frances Bassett was on her death bed in White Pine, and sending for a notary, made an affidavit on behalf of Chartz saying she saw the shooting and Rickar had a pistol in his hand when he received the wound. Others say as he fell he dropped the pistol and a bootblack picked it up. The witness got it from the bootblack and later pawned it in Virginia City.

In accordance with its annual custom, the Capitol Cafe announced that unemployed men and women will be served free Thanksgiving dinner, a practice for several years.

Recommendation of A.J. Jacobsen, legislative auditor, was that Nevada's $4,461,000 treasury surplus be used to pay Nevada's bonded indebtedness, saving about $200,000 in interest payments.

Corbett fourth and fifth graders, pictured, Tyona Malek, Corey Dalton, Tim Stephens and Sumiko Mitchell help the classes prepare a Thanksgiving meal for those grades and Corbett staff.

The Carson Nugget will continue its 35-year tradition of giving away Thanksgiving dinners on Thursday in the Garden Room Coffee Shop.
