Telegraph says Postmaster General Howe has, for the first time, learned of the postal system of Wells, Fargo & Co., and has been led to believe that grave abuses have sprung up. This really means that another move is to be made to prevent the Express from carrying letters. It is infinitely superior to the U.S. Mail system. People are willing to pay nearly double.

Sam Longabaugh, who is transacting a general fluming business in Washoe Valley, has finished the season's run. Snow stopped the 4,000 cords of wood by 500 cords.

Carson women attending in Reno Nevada Chapter O.E.S. included Miss Sade J. Grant, Grand Representative of the State of Virginia.

Forty-five Nevada National Guard officers met in Winnemucca to discuss the conversion of the state's guard units to 40-mm anti-aircraft weapons, Brig. Gen. James A. May announced today.

Minden -- Douglas County officials may be shopping for a new public defender, after District Attorney Mike Howe recommended the county not pay a 30 percent increase in financial support to the state Public Defender's Office, making an annual bill over $100,000.
