The Carson High boys soccer team tied Reed 1-1 in a non-league game on Thursday in Sparks.

The Raiders, who came into the game in third place in the High Desert League with a 5-2-2 league record, opened the scoring in the 25th minute.

The Senators (11-0-4 overall, 6-0-3 league) tied it in the 70th minute after a hand ball in the box awarded them a penalty kick, which Jeff Rogers converted.

Carson, which had to play without starter Kirkwood Harris, returns to league action on Saturday when it plays Wooster in Reno.

"We pretty much played in their half 75 percent of the time in the second half," coach Jim Nealis said. "But they were a good team. We would build a good attack but didn't get any real good shots on goal. It was really a well played game."

If things stay as they are with Carson in second place in the Sierra League, it could face Reed in the first round of the Northern 4A playoffs.
