The Galena High volleyball team fell 4-15, 14-16, 15-7, 6-15 to Fallon in the two teams' showdown for first in the High Desert League on Tuesday.
Galena (21-10) fell to 9-2 in league while Fallon stayed unbeaten. Whitney Dibble had a strong all-around match with with six kills, six blocks, 10 digs and eight aces. Joanna Hixon had 15 kills, nine digs and two aces, Lydia Mailander had five kills and five digs, Chelsea Applebaum had 10 digs and, two blocks, Kate Wallace had 17 assists and three blocks and Mandy Dickman had eight assists for the Grizzlies. Galena won the junior varsity match 15-5, 15-12.
DOUGLAS 3, WOOSTER 0
Douglas maintained its hold on first in the Sierra League, improving to 10-0 in league play with a 15-9, 15-7, 15-7 win. Cheryl Nicoll had 12 kills and Amee Christen and Emily Haas each had five kills, Brittany Addeo had 28 assists and Ashley McKenzie served for three aces for Douglas.
DAYTON 3, TRUCKEE 0
Dayton (13-1) stayed in a first place tie with Manogue, improving to 11-1 in the Northern 3A with a 15-7, 15-7, 15-3 win.
Amanda Sbragia had 11 kills and and three blocks, Danielle Rodriguez served for 11 points, Sarah Connet served for 13 points, four aces and had eight assists, Carey Kytle had six kills and five blocks, Rachel Hurt served for seven points and had nine kills and four digs, Amanda Ring served for five points and had two kills and three digs, Bridgette Galles served for three points and an ace and had two blocks, eight assists and two digs, Natalie Malekos served for four points and had two digs, Vienna Cabrita had five digs, April Thompson had four kills and Caleah Barnwell had four assists for the Dust Devils. Dayton also won the junior varsity match.
