Obituary: Mollie Jean Morris

Mollie Jean Morris, 88, a Carson City resident, died Sept. 29, 2002, in Chiloquin, Ore., of complications following an accident. She was born Dec. 22, 1913, in San Angelo, Texas.

She lived in Carson City, Yerington and Stagecoach for the past 25 years.

Mrs. Morris spent most of her working life as a cook for the U.S. Forest Service in California. She was a wonderful cook, especially known for her yeast rolls and beans.

She sang songs, wrote poetry, made quilts and other crafts. She also painted in oil and watercolors. During World War II, she built her own house.

Among her survivors are her children Patricia Guillemin of Raymond, Calif., Joel Darren Rumph of Sacramento, Molly Krewinkel of Stagecoach and Francis Butch Morris of Ahwahnee, Calif.; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and brothers Ed Thompson of Emit, Utah, and Harry Thompson of Tonopah.

At her request, there will be no funeral. A memorial will be held Oct. 27 in Ahwahnee.
