It would have been understandable if the Carson High volleyball team had suffered a letdown that lasted more than a few points against North Valleys.

But the Senators maintained their focus throughout the match on their way to a 15-4, 15-3, 15-4 win on Tuesday at Carson High.

"I thought we played hard even though North Valleys didn't have that great of a night," Carson coach Daryl James said. "I thought North Valleys played well."

"They're just too small. I thought they passed well. I thought our guys did a great job of staying focused because Reno will be better on Thursday," James also said about Thursday's match at Reno.

Carson jumped out to a 4-0 lead in game one behind Rachael DeRiemer's kill and an ace and back row kill from Shannon Devereaux. DeRiemer's back-to-back aces made it 6-2.

After North Valleys closed to within 6-4, Carson went on a 9-0 run. Devereaux and Katie Lawson both served for aces, DeRiemer had a kill and Tabitha Adams had a block as Carson built a 10-4 lead.

Kaitlin Brush followed with a kill and a block and Adams finished off the rally by serving for the last five points. Alyssa Wilson put away a kill on a quick hit for match point.

Adams also served for 11 straight points in game two and five straigh points in game three. She had a strong all-around match with 33 assists, two blocks and three aces.

Doyle's kill and Wilson's quick hit for a kill gave Carson a 3-0 lead in game two. After North Valleys closed to within 3-2, Adams served for 11 straight points.

During Adams serving rally, she had two aces, DeRiemer had two kills and Wilson and Colleen Doyle each added kills.

The Senators took a 14-0 lead in game three as Adams served for five straight points that gave Carson a 9-0 lead. Terri Niederer's quick hit, DeRiemer's kill and Nicole Scott's kill gave the Senators a 14-0 lead.
