ROUND HILL -- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office is investigating its second homicide at Lake Tahoe in a week.
The body of Carole Macken, 62, was found Saturday at a residence on Silver Drive in the Castle Rock subdivision.
A cause of death has not been determined, so deputies are treating the case as a homicide, officials said.
On Sept. 21, deputies found the body of Debbie Bariames, 35, at her Market Street apartment off Kingsbury Grade. Her 10-month-old son Nicholas lay malnourished and unresponsive beside her. He was hospitalized, but has been released. Her husband, George Bariames, is in custody in Douglas County Jail on charges of child abuse and neglect.
An autopsy failed to determine the cause of death but authorities believe Debbie Bariames had been dead for a week before her body was found.
