Dayton High's Bridgette Galles and Yerington's Randy Shumate were among the top Lyon County performers while Fernley's boys placed second at the Yerington Relays in track on Saturday.
Galles was the second highest scorer in the meet for the girls with 23 points while Shumate was the second highest scorer for the boys with 24 points. Rite of Passage's Chris Cook won the boys individual title with 28 points.
Fernley's boys placed second with 93 points in the meet that featured 16 teams. Manogue won the boys title with 151.50 points.
Galles was a double winner, placing first in the 300 hurdles in 51.66 seconds and the high jump at five feet, three inches. Yerington, Dela Montes won the 800 meters (5:55.36) and Melinda Young won the pole vault at 9-0.
Dayton, with a team featuring Yadira Montes, Christie Selmi and Bonnie O'Brien, took second in the 3,200 relay in 12:02.17.
For the boys, Shumate was edged out by Cook in the 100. Cook won in 11.74 while Shumate placed second in 11.75. Shumate won the long jump at 21-10 and took third in the triple jump at 41-1 3/4.
Fernley's Pete Borda had an outstanding meet, placing second with an excellent mark of 13-0 in the pole vault. Smith Valley's Jordan Savidge won at 14-0. Borda also took third in the 110 high hurdles in 17.58.
In addition for Fernley, Lonnie Hatcher, Mike King, Martin Grafe and Jonathan Hancock took second in the 400 relay (46.38), Hatcher, Jonathan Ball, Josh Bacon and Hancock took second in the 800 relay (1:37.27), Shaun Lee, Corey Ryan, James Taylor and Tom Allen took third in the 1,600 relay (3:48.59) and Taylor, Ryan, Josh Whitman and Allen took second in the 3,200 relay (8:41.34).
Joey Mountjoy, Billy Mountjoy, Stephen Novello and Jesse Gutierrez took second in the 1,600 relay (3:46.53) for Dayton.
Ryan also took third in the 400 (53.18) and Yerington's Mark Lemos was second in the discus (137-11).
