A celebration and tribute to Oral Ruth Ambrose will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mrs. Ambrose died April 2, 2003 with her family at her side. She was born Dec. 11, 1916 in Reed Springs, Mo., to Benjamin and Debbie Cranfill. She was 86.
On June 1, 1936 she married James W. Ambrose in Reed Springs.
Mrs. Ambrose graduated from high school with a basketball scholarship and remained and avid fan. She also enjoyed boating and fishing with her husband.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Bethel, Hadley and Ted Cranfill.
Among her survivors are her husband, sons Kenneth R. of Nampa, Idaho, Darrell J. of Stockton, Calif., Michael James of Reno, daughter Janis Rudy Crist of Carson City and their spouses; brother Desford Cranfill of Sutter Creek, Calif.; sisters Ova Souza of Jackson, Calif., and Gladys Blevins of Modesto, Calif., 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and dog Mitzy.
Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
