HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) -- Bryan Chaun, an 8th-grader from Reno, knows the value of a sucre.
Chaun correctly answered that Ecuador replaced the sucre (the country's official currency) with the U.S. dollar and claimed the top spot in the 15th Annual Nevada Geographic Bee.
Chaun will travel to Washington, D.C., to represent Nevada at the National Geographic Bee scheduled for May 21-22.
With the win, Chaun ended a six-year championship run by students in Clark County.
Bryce Spencer of Gardnerville finished in second place, while Stephen Deterding of Carson City finished third.
