Easter is right around the corner, and some great programs are within reach.

The Carson City School District Easter Shoe Program is still under way at Payless Shoe Source. It has 56 tags left for students who need new shoes.

Also helping with the shoe program was the Northern Nevada Woman's Lawyer Association and the Attorney General's Office in Carson City. They originally decided to sponsor 61 pairs of shoes, but because of the overwhelming response from the woman lawyers in Carson, Gardnerville and the AG's Office, they provided more than 250 pairs of shoes. Wow!

I caught Laurie Yott from, Beckett & Yott shopping. She bought shoes for a whole prekindergarten class with matching backpacks and sunglasses

"I am sad to leave Carson City and the community when the store relocates because this town has been very generous -- but more important --Eso caring," said Payless Shoe Source Manager Autumn Smith. I agree.

The Girl Scouts are continuing their annual Easter Dinner Baskets program for the needy. The baskets still need hams. If you purchase a ham and drop it off at the Salvation Army, they will store it until delivery.

The Carson City Jaycees are boiling up some major fun for the 27th Annual Easter Egg Hunt. They will have 25,000 eggs with hundreds of prizes, plus special guests for children to be entertained. K-Bul 98 FM will provide music while kids search for hidden eggs. Hop on down to see the Easter Bunny and have some family fun Easter Day.
