A 66-year-old man was in critical condition after being struck Tuesday night at Stateline while walking across Highway 50.
James Barry Ableman of Windsor, Calif., had begun to cross the highway between Harveys Resort and Casino and Harrah's Lake Tahoe about 8 p.m. when he was struck by a 1993 Nissan pickup driven by Geoffrey Randal Martin, 61, of South Lake Tahoe.
"The Nissan pickup then stopped and backed up on top of Mr. Ableman," said Nevada Highway Trooper Blair Harkleroad. "Mr. Martin moved the pickup after realizing he was parked on top of Mr. Ableman."
Ableman was at Washoe Medical Center in Reno in critical condition.
