A former Douglas County man will face charges there and in Reno after being arrested Monday by a Douglas sheriff's SWAT team in Indian Hills.
Ralph Clifford Hayes was arrested at Highland Manor Apartments in Indian Hills on suspicion of possession of a stolen pickup truck and a Reno Police Department warrant for armed robbery.
The incident began early Monday morning in Incline Village when police responded to a domestic violence report.
"When we started to approach the area, he bailed out the back door and through a shed, which was locked from the outside," according to Washoe sheriff's Sgt. Rob Davis.
Trapped, Hayes began to bang on the door. Thinking it was another deputy in trouble, a deputy opened the door, and Hayes ran out. He fled Incline Village, and police in nearby counties were told to look for a white Ford pickup truck.
The truck was found by Douglas deputies, who formed a SWAT team to search for him. Douglas deputies determined Hayes was in a friend's apartment at Highland Manor and arrested him there.
Hayes is being held in the Douglas County Jail with bail set at $50,000.
