Two 16 and under teams from the Carson-Tahoe Volleyball Club turned in outstanding efforts at tournaments last weekend.
A team comprised of Katie Devereaux, Britni Buck, Allison Foltz, Susan Rogan, Michelle Raponi and Mary Sahlin placed third out of 16 teams in a tournament in Sacramento. The highlight came in the quarterfinals when Devereaux helped lead a comeback when she served for 15 straight points as Carson-Tahoe beat Roseville Intensity in three games.
The other Carson-Tahoe team consisting of Natalie Arneson, Sydney Colvin, Colleen Etcheverria, Sarah Foff, Laura Glenn, Megan Lowe and Jenna Mechum took fifth out of 24 teams in a tournament in Roseville, Calif. Foff had an outstanding tournament at setter to help lead the team, which is one the top teams in the Northern California Volleyball Association.
The Carson-Tahoe Volleyball Club was formed this year and includes high school students from the Carson, Gardnerville/Minden and Tahoe areas. The club is designed to provide a positive, fun and affordable environment for girls ages 14-18. For more information, call (775) 588-2577.
