Garry Ray, 69, died April 17, 2003, in Dayton. He was born on Dec. 27, 1933, in Boise, Idaho, to Myron and Alice Ray.
He was a former resident of Sacramento, Calif., moving to Dayton in 1994.
Mr. Ray worked for Raley's for 30 years, retiring as vice president of grocery operations.
He carried the Olympic torch in 1996 for the United Way. He was an avid golfer and sports fan who followed the San Francisco '49ers and Giants.
He is survived by his wife, Sally Ray of Dayton; children Sheryl Aikman of Tampa, Florida; Kathy Ortega of Lincoln, Calif.; Karen Bartlett of Antelope, Calif.; Lynn Ray of Oroville, Calif.; Ruth Crowels of Elverta, Calif.; Kenneth Ray of Sacramento, Calif.; David Barnes of Dayton; Lori Barnes of New Orleans, Louisiana and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held in Sacramento, Calif., at a later date. Donations may be made to the United Way of Northern Nevada. Arrangements are by Walton's Chapel of the Valley in Carson City.
