A celebration of life for Larry Corbett, 61, a Gardnerville resident for the past four years, will be at 3 p.m. May 31 at First Baptist Church in Minden.
Mr. Corbett died April 7, 2003, in Westlake Village, Calif. He was born in Caldwell, Idaho; graduated from South Lake Tahoe High School; and attended the University of Nevada, Reno.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.
Mr. Corbett was the assistant manager of Harrah's at Zephyr Cove Lodge then began a 32-year career with the Department of State. His regular assignments included serving in Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Norway, the Seychelles, Benin, Central African Republic; his special assignments were to the Sinai Field Mission and CSCE in Austria and Finland.
Among his survivors are his wife of 35 years, Kathy; daughters Natalie Speicher of Westlake Village and Nicole Lippard of Colorado Springs, Colo.; son, Larry G. of Alexandria, Va.; mother Opal Corbett of Carson City; sister, Viola Schroeder of Redding, Calif.;and grandchildren John, Andrew, Timothy, Brittany, Jessica, William Maxwell, Audrey and Preston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
