Final construction details are the only pieces left to finish at Fuji Park before the city opens it to the public in the next two weeks.
New, brightly colored playground equipment, complete with a mini rock-climbing wall for youngsters, is ready to go. Workers recently placed "soft fall" bark chips on the ground but need to wait until the weather warms up before applying graffiti coating on walls surrounding the playground, said construction manager John Benzing.
The installation of a new public restroom facility has been delayed due to manufacturing problems and will not be in place before the park is reopened to the public, Benzing said. The restroom is expected to be complete about the second week in June, he said.
Crews have finished the majority of landscaping at the park the a new parking lot near the exhibit hall.
