The Kids' Fishing Derby, one of the largest in the western United States, is open to all area youngsters, ages 3-12.
VOLUNTEERS:
The Kids' Fishing Derby is seeking additional volunteers to assist with the derby.
Among the various activities requiring volunteers are:
Setting up and/or cleaning up for the derby.
Manning the registration desk for each session.
Selling doughnuts and hot coffee in the mornings.
Supplying the necessary "loaner" fishing poles and reels to youngsters who don't have their own equipment.
Baiting the youngsters' fishing hooks with Power Bait.
Manning the entry gates and collecting tickets.
Untangling lines, snarls or snags during the actual derby.
Netting fish (some nice ones!)
Weighing the trout after they are caught.
Carefully cleaning the trout after they are caught.
Manning the prize table.
Working in the snack wagon selling food and drinks.
Cooking hamburgers and hot dogs on the outdoor grill.
Note:
No walk-up volunteers will be accepted on the day of the derby.
Any volunteer under the age of 16 must have a sponsor and must have that sponsor oversee their activities during the derby.
There will be a general volunteer meeting on May 17 at 9:00 a.m. at the Lampe Park Pavilion and again on May 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Pavilion.
