A memorial service for Charles E. Vanderpool, 77, a Carson City resident for the past 35 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church.
Mr. Vanderpool died July 27, 2003, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Medford, Ore., to Charles E. and Mabel E. Wright Vanderpool.
He graduated from high school in Medford.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Oregon.
Mr. Vanderpool served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years, during World War II and the Korean and Vietnam wars.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Wesleyan Church and was active in nursing home ministries.
Among his survivors are his sister Virginia J. Johnson of Everett, Wash.; son Charles, of Central Point, Ore., and dearest friend Viola Hyatt of Carson City.
