Hunting seasons to open

Here is what is opening:

-- Aug. 9 -- Opening day of the archery antlerless elk hunting season in all open big game management area, except Nos. 111, 221 and 222-Early. This season closes on Aug. 29.

-- Aug. 9 -- Opening day of the California bighorn sheep (any ram) hunting season in big game management area No. 032-Early and 051-Early. This season will close on Aug. 31.

-- Aug. 9 -- Opening day of the archery, antlered deer hunting season in big game management area Nos. 111-115, 121, 131-134 and 221-223. This season will close on Sept. 7.

-- Aug. 9 -- Opening day of the any legal weapon, antelope (horns shorter than ears) hunting season in big game management area No. 035-Early. This season will close on Aug. 15.

-- Aug. 10 -- Hunter education class in Reno. Call the hunter education coordinator for the Nevada Department of Wildlife at 688-1559 during regular business hours.
